Is she being freely sculpted into existence or melting/decaying out of existence? Ambiguous, like a sunset/sunrise; that's good. Mouth but no eyes is usually a fetishistic stylization; not so good. Nose seems to be at a slightly different angle than the mouth, just the farther nostril seems odd. Do I see the tracks of a sled, and a snow-angel? That gives a sense of scale... so this is a giant living glacier/mountain woman. Impressive.

Nice concept! I would never thought of that.

I really like it, except one thing: You didn't really manage to get the snow ON the face. In reality we would see snow on several parts of the face because it is built out of tiny crystals. So the structure of snow looks different. (same with sand) And there's a lot of contrast in the face compared to the snow.

But overall you did a good job. +8

@sandstorrm: Lips/no eyes as female fetishistic stylization... that was new to me ^^;; I actually had another symbolization in mind.
Thanks for the hint about the nostrils. I knew something was wrong with the nose, but I couldn't point my finger at it.

@artoonator: Guess I just have to rely on your words, because I never studied the realistic structure of snow for this picture *g*. The face was supposed to be more ice than snow, so it's more smooth and shiny. But I'm not sure, if that's done in a realistic way either ^^;
Also, it's not like a close-up of a normal human sized face, but more like a gigantic sculpture. So, I'm not sure if crystals could be visible at all, since they are really tiny (I tried to show a bit of the structure of snow in the left corner in front, because it's very close to the viewer). Uh well, that's the theory ^^.

I really like this! Personally it's seems this is not getting the praise it deserves. The concept is brilliant...so brilliant in fact I would love to see a series of "facing nature" faces. No pressure...just trying to convey ow much I like the concept. My only issue is the eye...it looks a little too high. Besides that I LOVE this. Keep up the great work! )
